I discovered the power of art as a child, using it to express myself as I struggled with communication, due to family trauma and chronic shyness. I was the queen of losing myself in a fantasy world. A backdrop of amazing creative music helped me do this; records by Pink Floyd, Vangelis and Mike Oldfield stand out in my memory. I was lucky to grow up in a spiritual home, learning to practice gratitude, think positive in hard times and trust my instincts, however crazy my dreams might seem!

At college I studied Fine Art then Illustration which I did enjoy; but I felt unsatisfied. I couldn’t connect with what I really wanted to do, or why I wanted to do it.

Not sure what to do next, I had some great corporate jobs which gave me skills and confidence. Alongside this, I created some amazing life adventures – travel and work abroad, volunteering at international music and film festivals, and ski seasons in France and New Zealand.

Everything came with music, as I constantly collected songs and playlists – it’s amazing how a single lyric can stir an emotion or memory. Photos and mementos also captured the wonderful people and places. But what I remember most from these experiences are the feelings – the bliss of freedom, pure joy, and a strong sense of my own identity.

I felt inspired to bring these feelings into everyday life, but wasn’t quite sure how. Once I’d relocated to the creatively vibrant city of Bristol, I had a breakthrough that art could help me do this. I wanted to produce colourful, abstract visuals to represent the joy and freedom of adventure. Around this time, I discovered fluid art by a happy ‘coincidence’, and I’ve never looked back. I’d found the exact expressive style I’d been looking for.

I’m also inspired by powerful influences on my daily life - a constant soundtrack, my love of dancing, my emotions, and the beauty that’s everywhere, every day.

My aim is to take people on their own adventure, emotionally or mentally, when they see my work in their home or elsewhere. My art gives me a voice to do this, to get across feelings of freedom, happiness and positivity, that I want to share with the world.
